BBC Sport's Winter Olympics campaign Trails Will Blaze has won a Grand Award at the Clio Awards 2026

More good news to share: BBC Sport's Winter Olympics campaign Trails Will Blaze has won a Grand Award at the Clio Awards 2026, in the Film Craft — Cinematography category. It's a significant win — the Clios are judged internationally and a Grand Award sits at the top of the show.

The film, produced by NOMINT for BBC, was shot entirely in stop motion using real fire and 700 individually 3D-printed athletes, weaving their fiery trails together against scale models of the Italian Dolomites — no shortcuts, everything built and shot in camera.

Our part was on the key art side: design, compositing, and final retouching and grading on the campaign image built to sit alongside the film. Bringing together practical elements shot for a campaign like — fire, models, physical sets — into one finished, print-ready image is a different challenge to the film itself, but the same underlying craft.

This follows two Gold wins for BBC Sport campaigns at the Creative Circle Awards earlier this year, including Trails Will Blaze's sibling campaign — Two Gold Wins, One Great Year: Post Machine on the BBC Sport Campaigns.
